NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY, 2020 [11 IMPORTANT POINTS]. WHAT IS NEW EDUCATION POLICY?
1. NEW ACADEMIC STRUCTURE: [5+3+3+4]
{a}.5 years: foundation course
3 years of nursery, junior and senior standard
+
2 years of class Ist and IInd
{b}. 3 years: primary
class 3rd, 4th and 5th
{c}. 3 years: middle
class 6th, 7th and 8th
{d}. 4 years: secondary
class 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th
2.Class 9th to 12th will be divided into 8-semister examination
*class 9th will have 1st semister and 2nd semister examination*
*class 10th will have 1st semister and 2nd semister examination*
*The same will be followed for 11th and 12th class also*
3. There will be no board examination only half-yearly examination will be followed.
4. For students studying in Maharashtra: In Maharashtra schools from 11th-12th are considered as college but now students will continue their education till 12th in their respective schools. Now there is no need to search for colleges after 10th class on the basis of their 10th class result.
5. FOR SCHOOL GOING STUDENTS:
a. From class 8th students can choose subjects of their choice.
b. Subjects of 2 different streams can be chosen together.
c. Syllabus will be changed and reduced.
d.Multi-skills will be promoted.
e. Extra-curricular subjects will also be considered as a minor subject along with major subjects,[eg. music, singing, dancing].
f. By these changes knowledge of students will enhance and rote memorization will be devalued.
g. Virtual labs will be introduced.
h. Papers for class 9th to 12th will be descriptive as well as OBJECTIVE, earlier it was only descriptive.
I. Key concepts, ideas and creativity will be promoted.
6. FOR COLLEGE GOING STUDENTS:
a. Now degree will be of 4 years.
*If a student takes gap after 1st year, he/she can continue from 2nd year after gap. Credits will be given and students can utilize these to complete their course. So whatever the student have studied in past is not wasted.
* If student completes 2 years he/she will get Diploma certificate.
* If student completes 3 years he/she will get Bachelor certificate.
* If student completes entire 4 years he/she will get proper 4 year degree.
7. 4th year will be RESEARCH ORIENTED.
8. For UPSC aspiranta: According to new policy those who are wishing to appear for I.A.S examination can complete degree till 3rd year and skip 4th year as after completing 3rd year he/she will get Bachelor certificate and will be eligible for UPSC examination.
9. There will be free and compulsory education for the age 3 to 18 years.
10. UGC AICTE will be merged.
11. MPhil will be discontinued.
